Our Lady's Well/Ladywell

I wanted to visit this well for quite a while, so on a recent trip to County Down we decided to stop here at Ladywell in Dundalk. The well is very easy to locate as it is situated down a signed trackway leading from the old Dublin Road. We very extremely disappointed by the condition and lack of atmosphere at this site. Maybe I had anticipated too much for a dull day in March. There are a series of steps leading down into the well house, but this ocassion they were full to the top with the water. The site is surrounded by a railing and modern stations of the cross are situated around the rails. A Pattern takes place here on the 15th August, the feast of the assumption, which I presume is probably the best time to visit.

Situated: From the M1 south take the Dundalk exit and turn right onto the N52. Then 2.3 kilometres turn left onto Dublin Road (R132). After 1.6k you will see the sign for the well on your right.
